United by a passion for quality and design plus a belief that things could be done differently, URBANARA was born – providing customers with high quality products for the home, direct from the people who make them, at their true price.
In a world where powerful brands are king – adding enormous margins for glossy retail stores, high value advertising campaigns and huge stock operations – we felt the concept of true value was lost. Customers are buying from familiar brands, without questioning what they are actually paying for. This is particularly true of the home textiles and home-deco segment, where traditional retailers often charge up to twenty times the real cost of the goods.
We wanted to go back to the fundamentals – the things that really matter. We wanted products that had style but were also made with love. We wanted to understand where products came from and what went into them. But most importantly we wanted quality – things that would last the test of time, not be discarded for something new next year.
With offices in Shanghai and Berlin, our product scouts scour the globe to find new products, made from the finest materials at their real price. We work with strong, experienced suppliers from Peru to South Africa, from Mongolia to Denmark and we are constantly adding our new finds to the website.
Also central to the concept is the idea of transparency. We believe it is important to share with you details about quality levels, products, and where they are made. Product descriptions are not just marketing waffle but contain real information that allows you to make an informed decision on the products you buy.
