100% organic cotton, 350 GSM
The Mikawa Towel is one of our most luxurious and sumptuous towel collections. Made using 100% organic cotton with a generous fabric density of 350 GSM, this waffle weave design puts quality first. Made in the Japanese region of Imabari, famous for its towel production, the soft water of the region and the generations of know-how of local artisans produce a product that is truly second to none. Tested according to stringent quality controls, the towels have an extremely high absorbency rate: upon being placed in a bath of water, each towel must submerge itself within five seconds to be considered suitable for sale. The neutral, uncomplicated colour and simplicity of the design aim to place the luxurious feel and masterful construction in centre stage – a testament to Japanese style and design tradition.
Made in Japan's Imabari precinct, the Mikawa Towel is the product of generations of towel crafting tradition. Subject to stringent quality controls, all towels produced in this region and supported by the Imabari collective of towel manufactures undergo stringent tests to measure absorbency, thread losing rate, and pile tear resistance. The water in the region is also particularly soft and practically free from heavy metals, giving the collections a soft, absorbent finish. With towels from the Imabari collective displayed in design fairs around the world, including at London's Design 100% fair, there leave no room for doubt: the quality of the Mikawa Towel is second to none.

Good things come to those who wait

"What is 'pile tear resistance'?"
"Pile tear resistance is a test that is carried out before the towels are produced in bulk. It measures the durability and strength of the fabric, and ensures that even after heavy use and multiple washes, the towel will not thin or lose absorbency."
