"Named after the place they were first knitted, traditional Lovikka mittens are quintessentially Swedish. Legend has it that this iconic design was first knitted in 1892 by Erika Aittamaa, who made the mittens by hand from her home in the woods to support her family. The thick woolly finish came about by accident, when Erika washed and brushed a pair of overly dense mittens she had made in an attempt to make them softer.
